I think our Komeri does do some sort of delivery but not sure if it's from their store or from a central depot. You can order fruit tree seedlings from their website here Komeri fruit tree seedlings and those would be delivered but obviously you can't personally select the trees you want.

Or maybe get a taxi down there and back or do you have panniers on your bike ? You could probably lash two trees, one either side to them.

Hi,

In addition to Komeri, you might want to take a look at these places:

Engei.net
A very comprehensive plant store, with a good range of fruit trees here: https://engei.net/PathBrowse.asp?Path_id=023

Kokkaen
Another very big supplier - everything from seeds to seedlings, garden furniture, as well as trees.
Deciduous fruit trees here: http://www.kokkaen-ec.jp/top/search/asp ... cate2=1002
Evergreens like citrus, olives, etc: http://www.kokkaen-ec.jp/top/search/asp ... 9#toptitle

Ishido
http://www.ishidou.jp/ also has a good range, with more pear varieties than most. Their shipping can be a bit pricier than the other two though.

There are many more, but I have used these three extensively, and can vouch for them overall. They also have a better range than the typical big box store like Komeri which only carries the more common varieties.

Good luck!

Thank you for the links to the pear growers. Mrs Nouka has been after some La France for ages but we could never find any so will be ordering a couple up in the next week or two.

And now I wish we were living somewhere a little more tropical rather than the chilly north Chiba badlands

La France? It's the one bloody pear seedling EVERY SINGLE home centre around here always stocks. Its also the ONLY pear you ever see for sale in ANY supermarket here! Here being north east Kyushu. I guess things are different in Chiba?

We hardly ever see them over this way. Occasionally they might pop up in the supermarket but quite rare.

Hi, this is my first post and might be a bit late for you, but Komeri will lend you a small truck for 90 minutes for self service delivery. At least here in Niigata they do. I'm not sure the requirements, maybe try Google translate the site for more info.

I borrowed a truck last week. It used to be 90 minutes but it’s now 60 and that’s in Kumamoto. Plus last week for the first time we had to get a Komeri members card.
It’s still a handy way to get a free truck for an hour you maybe able to use it to pick something else up, not that I’d do that.
Cheers
