That's a lotta logs and even more potential shrooms! Just curious, do you have any troubles with wild critters stealing the shiitake?
Also: I'm envious!

Crikey Ian, that is some serious generosity from your neighbour. What an awesome gift. I hope you like shiitake

Hi donguri.
No major problems with critters eating them, mainly because our fencing is stronger now. Always a chance of e.g. deer.
Do get slugs sometimes. We’re keeping the logs at three locations at the land too, which can help to avoid losing them all. Also have many at our house.
ZN - Yes, was very surprised at the number of logs we got, only expected a few.
Was never into shiitake from the shops, but love the ones we grow.

Genboku shiitake are the best! Looking forward to trying ourselves, hopefully, in the near future.

Awesome Ian, your land looks absolutely lovely with a blanket of snow and a complete contrast to our land. Over here we are into our fifth morning without a frost and haven't lit the maki stove the last two nights, perhaps spring is not that far away

Concrete pad and rock surround to hold a 10,000L polyethylene water tank. Will bring in spring water from above and gravity feed that down the road to the highest terrace and two lower ones.
