Onjuku

Post by LeeB »

Hi,

Has anyone been to Onjuku? To the ise ebi festival?

The photos of the area on travel blogs look nice, but there is 'photomagic'.

What is the beach like?

Are there any good restaurants in the area?

Hi,

I was hoping that somebody on the boards had been to Onjuku and the festival and could tells us more about the area.

Someday I'd like to visit the area and if possible attend the festival.

Here are a couple of web sites that I found:

Well that's not far from us, I'd like to check the festival out as I've never actually eaten lobster and that looks fun slapping a few on the barby. Much will depend on whether we have any bookings in the cafe on the days of the festival.

I quite like that part of minami boso, it's got quite a nice atmosphere and has a lovely rustic charm, living there would be quite pleasant. The countryside is a nice mix of soft rolling hills and flat valley floors and it has an easy going climate, not getting too cold in winter. You've also got a few hotsprings down that way which is always a bonus. The new motorway now means access in and out of that part of southern Chiba isn't as bad as it used to be which what stopped us from buying down there when we were looking.

There's a lot to like about that part of Chiba and with fast internet and the new motorway it would be a very nice place to live

Sounds good.

We'll put it on our to do list when we travel next to Japan although we may not be able to go during the festival.

The better half loves lobster.

IMO the best lobster is cold water Canadian lobster and one of the best places to eat it is in PEI and Nova Scotia. Peggy's Cove, in Nova Scotia, is famous for its lobster and when we visited many years ago the prices were really, really, really cheap. PEI also had cheap, delicious seafood too.

And the better half had to see the famous attraction there: Anne of Green Gables House

Thank you, I'll add that to the list for things to do and maybe one day will get to check it out.
