Hello all,
Thanks for allowing me to be a member of this board. I have enjoyed reading the various threads here about countryside living.
I am originally from the UK, and have been in Japan since 2005. In April of this year, I will be moving to a twenty year-old house I just bought, situated not far from Kikuchi in Kumamoto prefecture. The location is really nice, on top of a mountain ridge, about 500m above sea level. The land and house totals about 800 tsubo. There are only about four or five other houses in the tiny hamlet. The house comes with a nice wood-burning stove, so I am particularly interested in getting more information about that. One of the metal feet got damaged in the large earthquakes we had here last year, so I need to get it welded back on, or continue supporting it on a couple of bricks as the current owner is now doing.
If anybody wants advice about getting a gun license and hunting permit in Japan, please let me know. I have owned guns in Japan since 2010, and regularly go deer hunting. There are lots of boar around my new property so I am looking forward to summer pig roasts!

Hi KH, welcome to here!
Amazing and informative website you have there.
I think it will be a treat for us to have you around, and I think I shall have to refrain from nail gun comments and let you give expert advice.

Re: Hello from Kumamoto!
Thank you for joining JSL Kumamoto Hunter,
It's great to have you onboard, I certainly have plenty of questions to ask you about hunting in Japan as the wild boar get closer to where we live each year so will be a regular in your hunting thread.
Once again thank you for taking the time to sign up and join.
