Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of...........

Post by Zasso Nouka »

Hi there,

My wife and I run a small cafe and organic farm in Chiba prefecture. We mainly grow western vegetables for sale locally and for use in the cafe. We also seem to unintentionally grow a lot of weeds (hence the username) and provide food for a large number of insects

Hey Zasso, I am going to filch your manly thread and introduce myself here too.
Mr.Gonbe and I are wannabe inaka dwellers who have just taken an interum step by buying a house on the fringe of urbanity.
We are fixing it up and planning to rent it out when we make the bold move to more rural climes.

And I'll just jump in to say that I am a long term American expat living in the North of Ibaraki. We built a house up in the mountains, and have a lot of fun with our goats, dog, cats, and sometimes bees. And I bet I grow more weeds in my field than Zasso does...

You did some amazing work fixing the new place up so quickly, thread, thread :)

Thanks for joining Eric, we do grow a lot of weeds. Quite often more than we grow veggies. Mrs N really would like some goats so I may be asking you some questions on goats later

Hallo,

Lazi here,

I'm currently living on the outskirts Tokyo with my family but have always had a desire to move somewhere a little more rural. Not so much deep inaka but maybe on the edge of one of the smaller cities with a bit of countryside around us but not totally cut off from civilisation, maybe somewhere in Saitama not too far from where my wife's family live. Don't know how much I can contribute at the moment as I don't really have any rural skills but hope to learn.

Hi Lazi

Welcome to the site and thank you for taking the time to register. We don't have a lot of content just yet but will hopefully be building it up over the coming weeks and months.

What are you looking to achieve if you move to somewhere more rural?

Thank you Zasso Nouka,

I work from home mostly and will continue that when we do make the move but mostly I'd just like to get away from all this concrete and the stifling hot summers in the city. It would be nice to have a little veggy patch but not looking to be self sufficient or anything like that. It would be nice to look out of the window and see green rather than grey all the time.

I'm Makichan,

I live with my husband in a small town in Shizuoka. We used to read the Country Living thread on Gaijin Pot sometimes but never joined in. We've always been interested in slow living and eco projects and try to grow some vegetables in our little garden but would like to do more.
