Reporting in. Well that was quite a typhoon. Still don't have mains electricity, 4G signal or internet but at least our solar panels give us power drink the day and the MMC Solar heater is giving hot water. Having to travel to find a mobile signal.

Reckon we escaped relatively lightly compared to many others, no damage to the house or cafe and just one vinyl house a little bent out of shape, other 3 completing ok. Hatake was devastated but not as bad as it could be as we were winding up the summer veg a replacing them with autumn veg so the typhoon did some of the clearings for us :D

Should get electricity back on Sunday

@Eric in Japan sorry man, spelling was never my strongest point

Zasso,
Glad you didn’t suffer too bad. Sounds like your lifestyle is allowing you to float through this a little better than others. How far are you from the coast? I noticed you mentioned salt blowing in from the ocean with what seemed like and unfavorable nuance.

Hope things get sorted out for you and everyone else in Chiba. Its been real hot and most Japanese people seem to depend on their ac and everything else electric 24/7.

Thank you Tora,

It's been a funny mix of 21st century living during the daytime and medieval dark ages at night when the solar panels don't work tempered by rechargeable led lamps and best of all we got 4G back last night when AU put a generator truck at the local cell tower

We're about 15 -20 minutes from the coast. Salt wind/rain can be good and bad. Cabbages love it and it can bring in small amounts of minerals and micro nutrients but it burns the leaves of most plants and in extreme cases kills them.

Electricity seems to be getting closer and closer each day, apparently it only 2 villages away from us now so hoping it will be here soon.

So here is the Tronboncino frame after the typhoon

Image

#16 looks to be suspiciously pointed towards the Kanto area

Would be a terrible shame to rip down all those nice new electric cables that have just been strung up
